They designed the RF subroutines to include EF communication.  I'd bet money that the backbone of the algorithm is a shared protocol and not one standard for EF and a separate for RF....just extra channels for additional back and forth.

Either way....no.  What you're suggesting will never happen.  I'd argue it CAN never happen or they wouldn't have made the transition so seamless in the first place.  They've got common pins between the two mounts and they had to do that in order to even have the option to make EF compatible using a simple pass through adapter.
