I hope you are right, but I also have several Apple products that are no longer compatible with modern releases.

Eventually new bug solving firmware is not written for them anymore, so they become obsolete….then I have to buy a new Apple product…or a Samsung 🙂

Lenses aren't computers.

But since you're worried, and since Canon makes no guarantees, you should do the prudent thing and sell now while the value is higher. There are plenty of alternatives. Why take the risk if you're confident in your opinion that the EF lenses might become unusable?
