AF and Release Priority

With my Canon DSLRs and Olympus MILCs I can set the camera to not release the shutter unless it has an AF lock.

With the Canon DSLRs I can do that for 1-shot, and with AI Servo I can decide how I want  it to operate for the first and separately  for the second frame in a sequence.

With my Olympus cameras I can decide between AF and Release priority in S-AF and separately in C-AF modes.

When shooting BIF, and in particular when using a red-dot sight when I can’t see the viewfinder, I have AF priority enabled - the cameras won’t release the shutter unless it has an AF confirmation.   This is very effective in limiting the number of out-of-focus and blank screens when shooting fast birds like swallows.

With the R7 I only get an AF Release Priority option for 1-shot. And I looked at the R5 Manual it it seems to be the same.

I’m curious to understand why Canon has dropped this feature for AF Servo
