Im pausing though at any of these options. Although formidable compact power (R8/R50), I dunno, something’s missing here. R50 has several corners cut that are annoying (no self cleaning, m50 buffer size and is still UHS-I). R8 although impressive lacks a compact telephoto option. Neither of these are M-killers even though they’re clearly supposed to be. The R50 and new 55-210 get pretty close though.

I very much dislike EVFs on EOS-M cameras. IMO, they never have been good enough to make up for the extra bulk they add. So the R50 isn't for me.

I did enjoy using my RP very much and it's the only camera that I sold where I keep thinking that I should pick up another copy of. Combine that with RF-S lacking equivalents of the 22mm, 32mm and 11-22mm EF-M lenses (and Sigma 56mm), The R8 suddenly becomes very interesting as a small(ish), 2nd body to my R5.

Provided I do buy a new camera this year, it needs to be available before the summer vacation. I didn't like the R7, the R10 is too expensive for what it is, the R6(II) is both too big and outside the budget. The R50 has an EVF that would be as infuriating to use as the M50 EVF. That leaves the R8. Three more months to decide if I actually really want it
