I haven't given up on the 24-50 puppy at f8 for $200 - need to see some reviews

We can hope dpreview had a bad copy. If so I can always add one anyway. R5 + 24-50mm allows for the Sigma 85mm DN or 50mm GM on the A7IV. I can't use the 85mm DN when the A7VI is occupied by the 28-60mm. So I hope I'm wrong about the IQ of the 24-50mm, but I'm afraid it's not great.

The samples from 24-50 actually look quite decent, especially the portraits.

All I can say is these portraits don't satisfy me. I have more confidence in that FE 28-60mm.

eyelashes at slow ss 1/80 of image 23 look pretty sharp

Looks like bumped up contrast by lens profile to me. There's no crystal clear definition when looking at the rest of the face. At some places it even looks like out of focus, while de DOF is actually huge.
