Time to go mirrorless: stay with Canon or switch to Sony?
1

I'm an event photographer and it's time to move along to mirrorless for a number of reasons. I've been mulling cost, quality and learning curve issues for months and still can't decide.  I'd love to stay on the EOS train but the writing's on the wall.

Pro Canon (for me at least): nearly 30 years of experience on the platform, comfort level, etc.  I'm looking at the R6.

Con Canon (if that's the way to describe it): buying at least two and probably four more new RF lenses on top of at least one new body troubles me.  Sure there's an adapter but that option seems merely sufficient, not superior.

Pro Sony (at least for me): all I keep hearing from other event photographers in the area -- and it's a huge market -- is that Sony has the jump, facial rec is the best, etc. etc.

Anti Sony: all new glass, LOTS to learn about any new system and, very important for my older hands, a considerably smaller body that won't be as easy to wield for 3, 4, 6 or more hours.

I appreciate your input.
