Still Image Quality: Newly Developed 24.2MP Image Sensor
The EOS R6 Mark II’s newly developed 24.2-megapixel full-frame image sensor achieves a higher pixel resolution than the 20.1-megapixel EOS R6, with new sharpness processing that achieves visual resolution surpassing even the 30.4-megapixel EOS 5D Mark IV. The native ISO speed is up to 102,400

Canon state the visual resolution of the 24mp R6mk2 as superior to the 30.4mp 5D mk4, due to new sharpness processing!

Perhaps baked in pre-sharpness processing is the replacement to higher mp sensors?

That is marketing BS and a way to make people believe there is no need for 30+mp sensors.

They just went down with their super strong anti-aliasing filters and yes, it might appear sharper than older Canon cameras, but there is absolutely no indication that there is "more resolution" in a Canon 24mp sensor than a Sony or Nikon 24mp sensor.
