The RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 on the R8 is exactly equivalent to a 15-31mm f/2.8-4 on the R50. Of course there isn't such an RF-S lens, but the RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 isn't stupidly big and expensive for the R50 and, on the R50, would be near enough equivalent to a 24-48mm f/7.1-10 on the R8.

The R8 + RF 24-50mm kit will be £1899 in the UK and the body is 132 x 86 x 70mm and the lens is 70mm diameter x 58mm long. The weight of the outfit is 461 + 210 = 661g, near enough that of the EOS R body without a lens.

The R50 body only will be £789 and the lens is £789, making a kit price with the wideangle zoom instead of the standard one of £1488. The body is 116 x 86 x 69mm, the lens 77mm diameter x 88mm long. The weight of the outfit is 390 + 328 = 718g, so it's 16mm (⅝") shorter, 11mm (½") deeper, 2oz heavier, £411 cheaper than the full-frame kit and effectively 1⅓ stop slower.

Camerasize.com don't have the 24-50mm yet so I had to mask the 74 dia x 63mm RF 35mm for the comparison.

It will be interesting to compare image quality between the R50/15-30mm combination with that from the R8/24-50mm combination.

hmm, will fingers even fit the grip of the R50?
