Judging by the dpreview samples, the RF 24-50 is absolutely worthless, I'd rather buy a cheaper body and some better lenses. What's the point of using a fullframe body with a cr@p lens?

With respect, you're a Nikon shooter on a Canon forum, be kind. But, here you go.

Nikon should be scared of that R8. Makes the Z5 look, obsolete.

I am a Canon shooter and I don't care about charts, I rather judge images. The samples provided by DPR with the 24-50 look pretty bad. Nothing wrong with the camera, the issue is with that lens.

Come on, it is the most basic 300 USD zoom lens for FF. What would you expect?

Exactly this.

The problem: In Canon land compact zoom options are always budget options with low IQ.   Paying more to get better IQ doesn't have to add to the bulk, unless you're shooting Canon only.

Anyone who wants a “better” lens is welcome to stump up for the 28-70 f2 L.

FE 28-60mm @f/7.1 for me please, and a 28mm Art + 50mm GM + 85mm DN for when I need more light or shallower DOF.

In my market the 28-70mm is available white box with 5 years warranty at 300 euro only by the way. Let's see if the RF 24-50mm can beat that price point.

OTOH it will go very nicely on an RP/R8 as a minimalist outfit when low light or super soft bokeh is not the intention.

If you're willing to skimp on IQ: yes.
