Such a compact system with compact lenses - Now being replaced by bulkier RF cameras and bigger RF-S lenses.
I own the R5 and many bigger EF/RF lenses, but my M6 II has always been a joy to carry out for casual photography and videography.
I hope Canon could could produce something as compact and capable as the M system in their RF APS-C lineup, but I'm doubtful due to the physical limitations of the mount size.
Head over to Canon Korea with Google translate. The R50 and RF-S 18-45, 55-210 were deliberately designed to mimic M50, 15-45, 55-200 form factor. Now you’re giving up a third stop on that telephoto, and 3mm width on that normal zoom, no free lunch. But you loose AF problems, 4K problems, and get a control ring. Not a bad trade. But yes, the M was the superior mount for crop. Shame. Still a touch grumpy 😡 over Canon dumping the M mount. But, if you want modern bodies for crop? Yup.
I don't want modern bodies for crop
I want R8
Thinking along the same lines myself. As I’ve said all along, once Canon updates the RP, and makes more non-L RF? That’s the nail in the M’s coffin. Seems its a nail in RF-S too. The R50 is impressive for what it is, but aside from telephoto use and cost? Crickets. The R8/24-50 combo is lethal.
for FF IQ over crop, agree.
you like light and shoot a lot at 24 mm so that kit would likely be good for you.
for me, R8 + RF 24-105 F4L and DXOPL6
