What if you crop an image?

In most cases amateurs don't do that.

Really? You ignored the cropping question.

If an image is cropped, your perfect pixel ratio disappears.

Most of the time amateurs do not crop either.

I was not claiming that most amateurs don't crop or don't print.

My claim was that in most cases they don't do that.

There is a difference.

The primary way for amateurs to "consume" their images is looking at a screen.

Printed 10x15cm photo albums are ancient history (except for the older generation).

I understand that you don’t believe cell phones have had an impact on the camera market, but at 10x15cm, a modern phone would be plenty for most people.

That merely suggests that the potential loss of the Foveon market segment does not necessarily result in a comparable increase of non-mobile camera market segment.

The former Foveon market segment customers also have an option to reduce their overall use of digital cameras and enjoy nature instead with naked eyes.
