Sigma Merrill outperforms Fuji GFX100S
yes I know, a strange comparison. but hear me out.
I recently moved houses and found old prints of mine, shot with the DP2M. Did not use the camera in the last few years, was pondering the question whether to buy the GFX 100s medium format 100mpix monster.
looked again at the prints and its just wow.
so I opened the dpreview comparison tool, and wow blown away again

if you look at the black background structure, or the green grass mats, or some other fine details, THE SIGMA SEES THINGS THE OTHER CAMERAS DO NOT.
for example, the black background is just a black wash on all the cameras, only the sigma actually sees its structure.
The other cameras just seem to brush over the finer structures.
even the mighty 100S just shows a hint of the structures that are there, but nowhere near enough where the sigma is at. even when comparing the pictures of 100%, yes the fuji shows more megapixel, but actually LESS detail.
sure anything over iso 200 is a different story. but I had no idea that, at iso 100-200, the merrill sensor actually is able to outperform a camera that has a much bigger sensor, 6x the megapixels, costs more than 20 times as much, and is 10 years younger.
can‘t wait for the FFF. Sigma, please do a pure merrill FF. no quattro stuff.
