I have been using a Canon RP for over two years with it working like the video in Laqup's post, with the exception that it does not reliably recover the tracked object if it completely leaves the field of view and returns.

I place the center focus box over what I want to focus on and half-press the shutter. If it detects an eye, it grabs it; if not it focuses on a face or other object. Then I can quickly recompose and take the picture. The focus tracks the object with any sort of normal movement around the screen.

This was a game changing experience for me coming from a DSLR. I simply cannot believe the more expensive (smarter) cameras don't do it as well. I suspect it is just a matter of settings. The more expensive cameras have a lot more setting choices, so there is more one can set wrong.

I have seen some impressive videos of R5, R6, and R3 tracking various objects amazingly well.
