On top there is one cool feature missing: The Nikon seems to store some kind of template of the subject you selected in memory on button press. This means the object will be recognized again if it shortly leaves the frame and comes back into composition. This feature is definitfely absent on the Canon cameras I have.

My old M50II will still track objects that go out of the frame then back into the frame.

It can remember.

I was curious and you are right about this. To me it seems that the tracking capabilities of some of the M series models is better than that of the EOS R. I did a quick test with my M6 and I could reproduce the behavior (at the end of the video). Other than that it struggled quite a bit. To be fair my recorded sequence seems to be a bit worse than what I got when just playing around a bit. The update rate of the UI seems to be really slow (like 3 fps per second), if you waited a bit after moving the camera it often jumped back to the original focus point. Overall I would nevertheless rate the feature not reliable on the M6 that should be quite similar to the M50 II in this regard.
