The R50 will be ...

The R50 can't be smaller than the R8. The lenses could be if native RF-S...

What this really boils down to is crop being a crop affair, or price affair. How compact an RF mount camera can be is limited by the mount itself. This is somewhat sobering as someone hoping for say an M6 II in RF... (I was)

The R50 will essentially be a cheapened version of the R10.  Maybe a tiny bit smaller.  Less of a grip probably.  Less control points.  No AF joystick.

I have a M5, and If you look at that alongside a M50, the M50 is just plain cheaper in every way.  Lesser materials.  Less control points.  They'll take the R10 and do something similar.  In short, the R50 will be the cheapest RFS camera Canon can make (with a VF).  Probably one day an even lower cost RFS camera, sans VF, will come along too (ala M100/200).
