61Mp, if true, are vastly excessive for video. Landscape, architecture, product photography - yes, but with this many megapixels, the native resolution isn't a good fit for video. If it does 8K, it'll be in the crop mode. Sony A7RV does 8K and 4K in the crop mode.

Anyway I think these little discrepancies suggest the rumour is fake. I'll be very happy if it's not.

It is not a big crop having 8K from 61Mp. Extra Mp are also needed for 8K and 4K mode EIS.

Really? 8K video is 32MP, so out goes 50% of the pixels.

UHD 8K is 7680 x 4320 and it's 33 Mp, but these dimensions actually require at least a 7680 x 5120 sensor (3:2 aspect ratio) which is 39 Mp.

The R5 uses DCI 8K - 8192 x 4320 which is 35Mp, but the camera has a 8192 x 5464 44.7Mp sensor in 3:2 aspect ratio.

None of that is 32Mp

Ok, nerd. You win. Serves me right for multiplying 8x4 and not busting out a slide rule before posting something here.

Seriously, though — you make some excellent posts here and you’re a great teacher.
