61Mp, if true, are vastly excessive for video. Landscape, architecture, product photography - yes, but with this many megapixels, the native resolution isn't a good fit for video. If it does 8K, it'll be in the crop mode. Sony A7RV does 8K and 4K in the crop mode.

Anyway I think these little discrepancies suggest the rumour is fake. I'll be very happy if it's not.

It is not a big crop having 8K from 61Mp. Extra Mp are also needed for 8K and 4K mode EIS.

Really? 8K video is 32MP, so out goes 50% of the pixels.

How do you work that out? 8K UHD needs 7,680 wide. A full frame camera has. 3:2 aspect ratio (not the 16:9 of UHD), so that is 7,680 x 5,120 or 39.3 MP.

Generally, 8K for Canon is 8,192 x 5,464 or 44.76MP.

An 8K TV is 7,680 horizontal and 4,320, or about 33 MP. In DCI (usually an anamorphic mode), the horizontal is extended but the vertical is not, so it’s 8192 X 4320 (35 MP). I don’t know where you’re getting the 8192x5464 figure, but it’s not in my R5. For all practical purposes, my opinion is the 8K mode that matters is the 8K UHD mode, or 33MP.

I’m not a serious video shooter, and I don’t understand DCI mode well, but I think it’s used with an anamorphic lens for expanding the horizontal our further in digital cinema, like 21:9 maybe?… but I’ve never done any work like that so I don’t know for certain.
