You suffer from some kind of haunting delusion, or perhaps you are seeing ghosts???
Maybe, yes.
But let me give some anecdotal examples for comparison:
"I have Vibrams. Vibram Fivefingers have no future, because the cushioned shoes have evolved so much in recent years. Fivefingers should just pack their bags and go under."
"I have a city bicycle, but city bicycles have no future because of urban sprawl and also fat bikes have evolved so much lately."
"I have a PassivHaus, but PassivHauses have no future because zero-energy houses have evolved so much lately."
I call this topic a rational one
So, are you trying to improve your own subjective decision model for yourself? Or for others?
Are you in the process of deciding on which camera to buy right now?
I have had 20 years of experience in teaching MCDA decision models on how to compare alternatives. And I have trouble fully understanding the rationality here. Perhaps it has something to do with pshychological rationality?
Market analysis should almost always assume market segmentation, which in decision models manifest itself in different models (regression trees, for example) and/or in different (or differently weighted) criteria and scenarios. There are (could be) group decision models as well.
Is your approach of rationality individualistic or collective? Who should be the stakeholder(s) of your (partial) decision model?
I apologise for being so direct,

With all due respect, Tarmo.
If you get depressed by my opinion, which I certainly consider rational, and not romantic and against better judgment (like yours?), then you should just read the first 20 posts of this 2013 thread.
And what Roland Karlsson and Arvoy and Eric Fossum thought about Foveon.

The scientists saw Foveon as a dead end even then, I conclude this anyway.
We have been waiting for 4 years now for the FF Foveon sensor camera, the competition is getting better and stronger with their new technology every year, and so there are fewer and fewer potential buyers of this product. This is rational?
And I really hope the Sigma camera comes, just because it is such an interesting project ....
