From the reviews I've read, the f/1.8 is not it !

A lot of complaints about focus hunting....it needs a switch to lock out the macro range.

The 40mm f2.8 pancake is my favorite walk around EF lens....how bout one for the RF mount?

Or a standard 35mm compact "street" lens, f/2.8 would be fine.

Either would make the RP body a killer street combo.

Why did Canon leave such an essential "use type" out of it's RF lineup?

Dave

That's the problem: "From the reviews I've read..." like most folks who do not actually use the system but make assumptions based on youtubers with permanent anti-Canon crusades.

I use it every day for my macro work and I don't know what you are talking about "switch out the macro range". The RF 35 is excellent, sharp wide open, focus at 15cm, has IS, is compact, and goes for 400 bucks. As a reference, the Nikkor Z 35mm minimum focus distance is a lame 30cm, is one inch longer, and costs almost 900 dollars.

BTW, I love the 40mm, actually I have 2, a white and a black. I do expect an RF version of that pancake someday.

Well you're right, I have not used one, and from what I'm reading here I'd find it a good choice. I do have a 40mm f/2 Minolta Rokkor M from the CLE days with an adapter that is compact and very good, but of course no autofocus. Maybe just maybe Canon will do a pancake 35 or 40, I think I'll wait a bit longer.

Just remember the only Canon full-frame pancake lens has been the 40mm, I dont think we will see something different but who knows??
