I think the M6ii plus the EF-M 32 is a great combo.

M6ii

-32MP sensor

-fast AF with touch and drag feature

-big battery among Canon M cameras

-rangefinder style (looks smaller)

-can be had as an everyday camera

32/1.4

-great optics (the best in M mount)

- this lens together with the EF-M22mm/2 plus the any of the Sigma Trio could literally keep you in Canon M without minding any updates.

Add a Godox 350c flash and boy you are all set.

All set with the above? No, I don't think so!

What do you recommend beyond 56mm, keeping the dame IQ level? No zoom lens allowed...

Canon EF 70-300 f/4-5.6L is just amazing on both M6 and R.

DOF is razorthin at 300 mm f/5.6.

Hmmmh, many seem to think of the EF 70-300 as the worst L zoom around. I have no experience with it.

The worst L zooms are without any doubt either 24-70 f/2.8L mk I or 17-40L of those I have used.

70-300L is a bit heavy and expensive for a 4-5.6 but that is basically all the negatives I can think of. Some people are also just snobs and look down at anything slower than f/2.8.

I am also wondering if people are mistaking it for the 70-300 DO, the L is by far much sharper than the DO and requires less of post processing.

The positives are:

  • Beautiful DOF
  • Amazing sharpess, there is practically no reason to stop it down
  • Out of this world contrast
  • Short for a weatherproofed 300 mm L zoom.

I have 100-400mm IS mk 1, but rather enjoy my Sony RX10 IV for tele because of size and weight.

55-250mm STM is currently my tele addition on M6 II and EF-M 55-200mm on M100.

Thanx for coming back on this KEG!

I may give it a try, if I can find a nicely priced one used.

How does it balance on the M6ii?

Very nicely but of course the camera is basically a lens cap so you hold the lens with one hand.
