I had LX100/ have LX100 II; for myself the 64mm depth too bulky to carry via a belt case—definitely not pocketable as the ZS100.

Prior to upgrading to the LX100 II I looked at the Canon GX 1 Mark III; as I had the 80D at the time.

For myself the Canon GX 1 Mark III for the price and small zoom range, the max apertures were too small. Not just the f/5.6 @ 72mm EFL, but the max apertures reduces fairly quickly while zooming to longer focal lengths.

For traveling light; I use the ZS100/ LX100 II combo. Both cameras use the same battery,

Given your photog experience, by reading the Imaging Resource Full Review, and looking at the sample images (JPG/ RAW) you should be able to easily determine if the ZS100 good enough for your needs.

The only caveat is buy a ZS100 from a reseller that has a "Full Return" with a period long enough for you to test ZS100 to verify not a bad sample.

My ZS100 PP RAW image are overall quite good. (previous post)
