I guess you could say the same for Nikon, except the 1 series at least didn't overlap with the z system so much, and they realised their mistake much earlier.

I understand the frustration of EF users feeling abandoned, but the EF system has had a good run, and sometimes things need to change in the name of progress, but I do feel for M users.

Well, my entire M setup costs less than 28-70 and has given me years worth of usage.
