Such a compact system with compact lenses - Now being replaced by bulkier RF cameras and bigger RF-S lenses.
I own the R5 and many bigger EF/RF lenses, but my M6 II has always been a joy to carry out for casual photography and videography.
I hope Canon could could produce something as compact and capable as the M system in their RF APS-C lineup, but I'm doubtful due to the physical limitations of the mount size.
Designing then building small sharp at f/1.4 auto focus lenses was too much for Canon ?
They quit trying after the 32mm ?
And people complain about the lack of a small fast zoom lens ?
Canon had QC troubles with the small 15-45 ?
Maybe they can not design and build a small fast zoom that could make a profit ?
I understand that you're trying to build some controversy here, but seriously?
Canon's #1 operating principle has always been to protect their higher end sales. Period. It's never been a question of ability, it's always been about will.

How do you know that ?
Simple. Their actions over the years.
Why did they get rid of the most useful 15 to 17mm range on the kit lens ?
My thought is that the change in flange distance caused the 15-17mm range to be untenable. It was already shaky on EF-M.
Because after the 15-45mm they gave up trying ?
They obviously didn't want to spend the resources re-engineering a basic kit lens for RF.
It was too hard for them to keep bad ones from getting into Fed Ex trucks ?
Well that too . Although I had one really good one, and one excellent one.
