I get what you're saying. Just a glance at the top deck LCD to check the shutter speed/aperture/ISO combination when you know the light is changing is very helpful when you're at an event where things are moving fast. I like having that ability without needing to lift the camera to my eye, or to keep my rear screen flipped to show the display.
