Unwanted image rotation and re-scaling when printing on rolls

I'm hoping someone here might have a solution to my issue.

I have a brand new Mac Studio and upon setup immediately encountered a serious printing problem:

Images printed on roll paper with custom sizes are being rotated, re-scaled, and printed to the margin (rather than the center as directed) on my Epson 9890 Stylus Pro.

The condition persists regardless of whether printing from Adobe CC apps or Apple Preview.

The printer hardware is known good, and works perfectly with a Trashcan Pro running High Sierra.

I've done all the usual stuff including deleting/re-adding printer, resetting printer system in settings menu, uninstalling/reinstalling Epson drivers and software.

I am very experienced in using large format Epson printers. I spent an hour on the phone today with Epson support and the tech was baffled, and we never were able to find a solution; in fact he said he'd not heard of this problem before. FWIW Epson has stated their drivers work with the latest OS's and M1 processors, but the tech wasn't positive on that.

I have considered wiping the machine and reinstalling the OS, or perhaps downgrading to Big Sur. My only other option currently is to keep the Trashcan running and transfer files between it and the Studio, obviously an inelegant solution.

I'm wondering if anyone here has had a similar experience and might be able to offer some advice.

Computer hardware/software specs are as follows:

M1 Mac Studio # MJMV2xx/a

Monterey 12.6

Ethernet cable directly to printer

Epson driver and firmware are latest versions from their site

TCPIP

Thanks
