I think you're missing the point. It is not about the R7's compatibility with every lens there is, it is about the feature of manually entering a focal length not working as intended.

I have an EF-S 17-55 f/2.8, which exhibits the exact same fault when you cover the voltage pins on the lens. I enter 17mm in the IS menu, it behaves erratically.

The method I posted above to trick it can simply be done by turning IS mode off, press the shutter half way to begin metering, and then turn IS mode back on with the proper focal length entered and it will work until the camera sleeps or turns off.

If I follow the steps Pipps has laid out, then IBIS works perfectly until switching power states. What annoys me and probably others with this is having to re-enable IBIS everytime the camera turns off and on or goes in standby.

Other camera manufacturers can make it work properly, why not Canon?
