Re: Go-to lenses for event photography

I own a 90mm f2, 23mm f2, 18-55 f2.8.

The 90 is my favorite lens, but you can leave it at home for an event in a smallish room.

FUJIFILM XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR Lens

FUJIFILM XF 35mm f/1.4 R WR Lens

When I do events I like to have 2 cameras. One with the 18-55 the other with the 33 1.4. The 18-55 is about f3.6 at 35mm, so the the 1.4 is almost 3 stops faster, that's a BIG difference. The 18-55 is f3.2 at 23mm, so the 23 f2, has an advantage, but not enough for me to justify carrying 2 cameras or not having the convenience of the zoom

Also for group family shots what should I be using?

I always bring the 10-24, if the space is small and or the groups are big, 18 won't be wide enough. Many time my 2 lens set up is 10-24 and 33

Finally, do event photographers use an external flash? I always hate the look of it but I'm thinking of getting one just in case of extreme low light.

I don't like flash either, but it can definitely be necessary. If the location has a white ceiling, then you're in luck because you can just bounce a flash at the ceiling.

Thanks in advance for any tips,

Relax and have fun, Good Luck

Sincerely,

Daniel
