Montezuma Castle National Monument

Bill Borne's recent postings prompt the following. It wasn't a sunny Arizona day by any mans. We dodged rain showers during the day, and snow flurries at night.

The name "Montezuma" was applied to a pueblo by the clueless. The Sinauga people weren't even close to being Aztecs.

Walk down the sidewalk from the NPS visitor center, and this is the first view of the "castle".

The darker walls have been recoated by the NPS. The sycamore (and one piñon pine) logs are original and were used about 800 years ago. The rooms were accessible until about 1950, but were closed off to prevent further looting.
