I usually use my camera with the backscreen flipped around so it doesn't display anything. The battery lasts longer that way. I can see the details when looking through the VF, but it would often be more convenient to see it on the top LCD.

That makes sense.  Coming from Nikon the rear LCD was always exposed so with Canon I just leave it exposed as well.
