Supply and demand which Fujifilm is likely controlling to their benefit. Seems like many manufacturers (not just in the electronics space) noticed that the early pandemic supply chain induced shortages translated to better margins. Is Fujifilm really unable to meet demand on this camera?

Something similar happened with last year's Swatch/Omega collaboration. They release the infamous MoonSwatch collection of plastic watches with the iconic Omega Moon Watch design, and Omega logo, all plastic for a retail of $250.

People went crazy, and slept outside the Swatch stores trying to get a piece but Swatch decided to limit the supply just to create this FOMO, so scalpers flip them on eBay even for $1000 dollars or even more just because they were pretty much impossible to get.

All this hype is helping Fuji to build their  brand as the cool camera to have. As I said before I have a friend who has no clue about photography, (never heard of DPR either) but she bought an XE4 for $1500 just because she discovered that camera on social media. She would never have thought of a Canon R6 or Nikon Z, she just wanted a nice “cool” looking camera.
