Canon R6 Mark II freezes with Rokinon EF AE14M-C 14mm f/2.8 with AE chip via Canon EOS-R adapter
2 months ago
Enjoyed Canon EOS R6 + Canon EOS R adapter with Rokinon EF AE14M-C 14mm f/2.8 for a year and everything works well (The Rokinon lens is mainly for astrophotography in M mode) till upgraded to EOS R6 Mark II recently. The R6MII would freeze in any regular photo mode dial (for example Manual Focus mode) after press shutter button, then the camera red dot at right bottom of the set dial stays on - camera is frozen till take battery out.
On Canon EOS R6, the Canon EOS R adapter with Rokinon EF AE14M-C 14mm f/2.8 is recognized correctly as F/2.8 manual lens, but on Canon EOS R6 MarkII, it's recognized as a 50mm lens :-O.
The R6MII works with the lens in video mode and in photo raw burst mode (slowest shutter speed is 1/50 s). Upgraded R6MII with FW 1.1.1 does not work, put camera in airplane mode, does not help. Have tried a friend's R6MII with FW 1.1.1, the same problem exists. Replace Canon EOS R adapter with Canon control ring, the same problem exists. Rokinon MF lens does not have firmware update (not like AF version)
Any of you have R6MII frozen with Rokinon EF AE14M-C 14mm f/2.8 ? Any work around? Any of you have the same problem?
The R6MII works with all Canon RF lens and Canon EF lens with Canon EOS R adapter.
