Aperture Control With No Aperture Ring

Hi everyone,

I'm a professional music photographer. After 30+ years of using Pentax, I've made to move to Sony, specifically that a7riii.

Here is my question. With e-mount lenses that lack an aperture ring can I, in "A" mode, maintain a constant aperture throughout the zoom range by using one of the wheels on the body? I'm specifically asking about the Tamron 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD.

What I would want to do is keep the aperture at 4.5 throughout the zoom range. Is this possible?

Thanks for the help.
