Exactly. "Fear or missing out".

Classic example when you want to buy or rent a house there is always somebody that "already gave the paperwork" before you but the seller says "if you pay today I might cancel the other party deal" lol.

FOMO yes!  I dabble with vintage film gear too.  I see it there also; some internet pseudo photo writer will talk up a vintage system and bingo, there go the prices.
