I've tried many third party batter grips for many bodies, DSLR vs ILC, large versus small.  While the higher priced grips are "better" compared to the lower priced ones, there's no substitute for the OEM grips.  I'm a grip person so if a body comes with one, I will get it (eventually). However, what I've done is buy a used one in excellent conditions.

If I'm buying new, I wait until there is a special sale that includes the grip.  If I'm buying used, I buy both body and grip used.

The third party grips will fit, but the material is not the same and because our hands and fingers are very sensitive, our fingers will know that these two parts are not "the same" and over the lifetime of using it, the cost saving is not worth it.
