I have a friend who already have it. They were delivered sooner than expected. Is one week ahead.
Outside the US I’m assuming. I hope mine ships tomorrow here in the US.
I've pre-ordered with Adorama - they still say shipping of the first batch will start tomorrow (B&H says the same)
Well, Adorama is still saying today but I haven't received any shipping alerts, so I assume the lens is either late or I did not make it into the first batch
Has anyone received theirs yet?
Just talked to B&H at 10:50 AM EST, today 01-26-2023
They said (quote from chat):
"This item is still on backorder as no units have arrived. Nor is there is an ETA from Canon on a shipment."
So they claim not to know when it arrive.
I checked my B&H order. Yesterday it said it would start shipping today but today is simply says
New Item - Coming Soon
Patience is a virtue.
I will be found wanting then
Well.... I have spoken with a different Adorama representative and this one told me that they did indeed receive a first small batch yesterday and that I did not make the "cut"
Oh well - will be shopping around while I wait
Maybe the first batch was very small. I ordered on Nov 6 four days after the announcement and I confident some others and many others were in there at the Nov 2 announcement.
Most likely, yes. I expect the usual message from Canon soon, stating that "due to unexpectedly high demand yada yada yada it will take time"
I checked B&H moments ago and again their message is
New Item - Coming Soon
Yep I have seen the same message on multiple web sites of different shops.
I have other choices with older lenses in the form of my Sigma 135 Art and Canon EF 135 so I can be patient. I ended up waiting 5 months for B&H to get my R5 so it may take awhile.
I have sold my EF and at this point I won't be buying another 135 until I get the RF one. The 85 1.2 and 100 2.8 macro will keep me sane in the meantime
I surely hope I won't have to wait 5 months though!
And personally, a 35mm L is a higher priority for me. But Canon is not forthcoming
If you are in a hurry call several of the Canon dealers listed on the Canon website for your country. I have called ten dealers or more to get my R7 and had to setttle for the model with the kit lens. It turned out I really like the kit lens.
I have tried multiple sellers but noone seems to have stock. But I am not going to preorder everywhere...
