Keep your Mazda long enough and one day it will lock the FOB inside. The amount of times we all have to fiddle about trying to figure out where our FOB is as we leave the car is crazy.

Same thing with the car pad entry. Those typically work for 4-5 years.

Of course for those who lease their cars for two years, this is all moot.

Take care.

You’ve been fobbed off…

Seriously though, I’ve done over 500K miles over a number of cars with keyless entry and never had an issue. Even when the battery is flat, there is an emergency key for entry and you start the car by holding the fob next to the start button. At least that is how it has worked in the various Toyotas and Kia’s I have had.

Same with VW, but you do have to know that the physical lock slot is hidden beneath a removable piece of trim. And using that will set off the car alarm.

And don't replace the battery of the spare key at the same time, having both keys have empty batteries isn't fun.
