I have the R5 with 100-500 on its way as bird photography is my passion. However, I'm looking for advice on an "everyday" standard lens for street and general people photography. I'm looking for a "fastish" lens that can be used in doors without flash.

I tend to gravitate towards fast primes so my suggestion will be... the RF 50mm f/1.2L. I have it and it is an exceptional lens that delivers better than any of Canon's present and past 50mm lenses. I am not a fan of the RF 50mm f/1.8... it's small light and cheap, yes, but I did not like the EF versions and I will skip this one. I also had the EF 50mm f/1.4 and found it even worse than the EF 1.8 II. I also had the EF 50mm f/1.2L and found not good enough for the price... Canon pretty much put me off 50mm as focal length until the RF 1.2L arrived

If I wanted the flexibility of a zoom I'd second the suggestions of the RF 28-70mm f/2L. I tried a friend's one and it is a great lens.... heavy yes but it does deliver.
