I decided to go for the EF instead of the RF version. The RF's IQ is not that better (for portrait use anyway), it's not a true macro, and the cost of its close focus capacity is slower AF speed and a fragile motorized extending barrel that can be easily damaged by bumping it.

I used to own the EF version and was always pleased with it. I was stupid enough to sell all my EF glass to transition to RF, but when I thoroughly researched the RF, I realized my mistake, but by then the EF was long gone, and the Samyang/Rokinon 85 1.4 (a better choice) had already been pulled from shelves.
