The RF 24 - 240 is the existing lens to go with I think. I'll probably fund it's acquisition with my 7 D II. But I have a question: isn't there anybody out there more interested in a (not yet existing) 28 - 300 walk around lens? Personally and slightly off topic: my walk around lens is a Sony RX 10 IV.

My personal use does end up on the wide end fairly often (but usually in the 80-150mm range), so Im not sure Id give up the 4mm on the wide end for 60mm on the long. I could see many people being happy with such a lens though.

Canon did have one of their patents out there (one of the "on paper" ones that would absolutely never make it to market) for a 24-400mm lens. That would be neat. Or a 24-240L would be even better.

EDIT: Here is said article, obviously never making it to production: https://www.canonrumors.com/canon-patents-ludicrous-zooms/
