Hi,

Has anyone tried using the Peak Design Clutch (or some other similar support) on the R6 ? Or is it better to simply carry a bag ?

Asking this as the Clutch requires a plate to be screwed into the tripod socket and the tripod socket is actually not designed for such applications

I remember reports of Olympus E-M5.III tripod socket getting pulled out due to similar use ie being used for strapping the camera instead of adding a wrist support but definitely not the intended use for the tripod socket.

R6 is definitely better built than the E-M5.III but better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks,

There are 100 different strap systems and other carry solutions that all use the tripod mount. Suffice to say, the R6 can handle it. I've used several methods myself, including black-rapid style mounts, Spider Holster and Peak Design Capture.

The thing about the Olympus E-M5 is it has plastic immediately around the tripod mount. The R6 has a magnesium skeleton with polycarbonate exterior panels. The tripod mount is a part of that skeleton. This shot from DIYphotography's teardown should inspire confidence:
