This is a new generation sensor and it will take a few firmware tweaks to reach it's full potential. As you can see the XH2s is already on 3.0...this camera was out first and is the flagship so others (XH2 followed by XT5) should get updated next.

So........ there's a local Fuji event where there may be a bit of a discount on bodies and lenses and I may do something rash.

Just in case I do pick up the XT5, and since I really only shoot in Manual with auto ISO. Should the manual controls not be for me, could I do the same with the XT5?

The way I shoot on the R6 -

Front Dial - Shutter Speed

Rear Dial - Aperture

Rear Shoulder - Exposure Comp

I do suppose I can continue shooting like this with the XT5 right?

Leave the shutter and ISO dials on A

Sure you can. Manual mode with auto iso, you can program the front and back dials for shutter speed and aperture, if you don’t want to reach for the dedicated shutter speed knob on top. The dedicated aperture dial on an XF lens is easy to reach should you want to keep using that and use the back dial for something else, and set the iso on A. Or set SS and iso on A and change aperture with either a programmed dial or the dedicated aperture dial on a lens.
