40MP DPR Test Scene comparison between the old and new 56mm f/1.2

Here are the new pair of test scenes with both 56mm f/1.2s at f/5.6 and base ISO with the X-T5 for your perusal. You will find these full-size RAW conversions far superior to the dreadful looking RAW examples in the DPR comparison widget.

My take: The new lens is better, but not by a mile in these f/5.6 examples (if the new lens is worthy of the 40MP stamp of approval, so does the old one). I'm sure there are significant differences that would be seen at the widest apertures, and with scenes that would accentuate the CA/fringing issues with the older design, but here they both look just fine (though the sharpness of their copy of the old 56 seems a bit uneven, with some portions of the image making a better showing than others). I tweaked the WB slightly for a better match, but the sharpening and NR settings are identical for both images.
