Nikon Z30 + Z-Adapter + DX Lenses

I bought a Nikon Z30 for my upcoming holidays. I know that the Z30 is a mirror less camera with a crop sensor. So far so good.

I have the Z-Adapter which I use with my Z9 and some full frame lenses.

In this case I tried to use a 40mm DX and a 35mm DX (all prime) with my Z30 assuming that 40mm will stay 40mm and 35mm will stay 35mm.

But this is not the case.

While everything works (Focus, Sharpness of images …) I noticed that the 40mm becomes the equivalent of 60mm and the 35mm becomes the equivalent of a 50mm lens.

For some reason I have no explanation for that. I thought a crop lens on a crop sensor regardless the mirror less system should not change anything.

I did quite a bit of research but could not find any answers. So any input is greatly appreciated.
