I’m grumpy about all the vendors, including Canon.

Z30? AF, native crop glass
M6 II? Shutter shock, discontinued mount
R10? Native crop glass
X-T30? AF, large expensive lenses
A6xx? Colors, handling, quirks
G1X III? AF, no 4K
G5X II? 1” output, AF
4/3? Equivalence

X100V? This is how it’s out of stock everywhere. May be fixed lens, and the AF doesn’t match Canon/Sony, and it’s pricey, but perhaps it warrants it.

Canon just can fix my grumpiness, but hasn’t yet.

After buying several lenses from Canon USA during the big sale I now think the Canon USA store does not test refurbished lenses.

I am not so sure they have enough workers to keep up with the testing or repair of lenses ?

They just sell them or swap them out ?

My experience with "refurbished" products, is used by another name. Now the condition of that used items widely varies. Refurbished is merely the acknowledgment that these products passed some bar. The bar can be low to your point. I'm speaking generally, not of Canon, but, Canon appears to apply. I've seen server boards that work... If, you aren't fully populating RAM or PCIE risers, for example. They may work perfectly for say a customer who doesn't need 768GB of RAM, but for someone with say a fully Loaded "pizza box" (1U or 2U server blade) where all RAM slots and risers are populated, that "refurbished" board that passed Dell diagnostics, while minimally populated, will fail in the field. Same applied here where if you can overlook decentered glass, or maybe nothing at all depending, sure.

The new computers would go into a temp controlled room. Some would fail hot. Some would fail cold. Some would fail when cycled hot and cold.
