The singular reason for a leaf shutter is high speed sync. And I guarantee the number of X100 users who utilize that capability can be counted on a clumsy butcher's left hand.

You believe that, but where is your evidence? It is problematic when people assert things as fact based solely on gut feelings. It IS a fact that the leaf shutter is part of the USP of the X100V, and removing it would take away a key capability, even if it is valued by a minority of existing users.
