Re: Everyday Carry - X100 vs XE / XT x0 / XT x00

I think you should make a decision based on what focal length you want for this compact setup. If 23 of the x100 35 equivalent works for you and you are ok wi try a fixed FL then that’s a hard choice to argue against.
My normal setup is an XT4 with the 16-55, which isn’t especially small or light. On vacation I have been taking my XT30 with the 18 f2 and 27 2.8 as my more casual walk around. While I don’t think thr XT4 and 16-55 is a weight burden I’ll admit it’s a delight to take the smaller kit out when going out for the evening. While I can work just fine with the 18 or 27 focal length neither just click for me. 23 seems like it would be about perfect for a general lens. I suppose that’s why 35 ff became into being. At any rate, only you can decide what FL works best for you. Since you have another main kit and don’t want overlap again the x100x is probably good choice for you.
I'm really fine with the X100's 23mm, but am unsure if the XE/XT200/XT30 with a slightly bigger 23mm/27mm f2 would handle very differently in the field.
Also I'm not sure if there would be a lot of features missing from the different or more entry grade cameras (IE, w/ Canon, the cheaper models despite using the same processor would get cut down features and vastly simpler menus where auto shutter speed on AV mode would be missing)
Not sure if I'd be missing out if I pick up a cheaper Fuji vs the more premium X100. I'm also not such a big sucker for image quality as well. Canon's "bad" 50mm 1.8 has given me terrific images and I don't pixel peep for comparing lens sharpness.
And yes, it's really a delight to be able to pick up a smaller kit for casual settings. My now sold M50 with the 22mm was great for that purpose, but compromises like having only 1 dial, big differences in AF and worse AF in AF-C made me reach for the FF kit more often despite it's size.
I'm only considering the ILC models as the Simga 18-50 is VERY light, and with an IBIS body, could be a banger of a kit.
Thanks so much for your input!!
