How to migrate from 5D MkII to mirrorless?

Hi all. Fairly subjective question, but would appreciate hearing other's opinions on it.

I currently have ...

  • Canon 5D Mk2
  • 24-105mm f/4L Mk1
  • 70-200mm f/2.8L Mk1
  • 35mm f/1.4L Mk1

The stuff I have is pretty good, but it's all at least 10 years old (I got married and had kids!), and despite it all working well, I'm thinking I'd like to switch to mirrorless for reasons (stabilisation, focusing, bulk/weight, noise). The ballpark figures I'm seeing on eBay for the above are £200, £200, £400 and £400 respectively.

So, the question is how best to start migrating?

Let's assume I can get hold of £3k capital to kick start the journey right now (and then maybe earmark £1-2k every 12 months thereafter), I can see two main options:

  1. Sell it all and start afresh with something like this R6 Mk2 + 24-105 f/4 bundle for £4k
  2. Get an R6 Mk2 body only for £2.8k and a lens converter for £120, then have my 5D as my backup going forwards (I don't do commercial, but I have shot weddings before, and I know a backup is essential if I do it again for friends, for example). Then just add proper mirrorless lenses over time.

So, which would you choose? Do you have any other advice? I've never used mirrorless, so if I'm missing something obvious, then please do treat me like an idiot
