24-240 for the focal range as the 24-105 is not very sharp anyway..

Based upon what comparisons/ tests? 100% Pixel Peeping.

Yes due to the amount of DLO the 24-240mm at 24mm the corners/ edges are soft, but at the 35-105mm range the 24-240mm quite sharp; e.g., RF 24-240mm / RF 24-105 f/4 L comparisons HERE by the-digital-picture.com.

Unless doing poster size prints, doubt one could see the difference between
RF 24-240mm / RF 24-105 f/4 L prints viewing at normal viewing distance.

Base upon my use of the RF 24-240mm I agree with the others that appreciate the lens, and Scott Kelby's  video about the lens HERE.

Bottom line, yes a 24-105 "L" 4X zoom range lens 'SHOULD' be sharper than a non-"L" lens with a 10X zoom range.

For a FF 'general purpose/ walk around' single lens solution the 24-240mm is very good; as noted by Dustin Abbott's review HERE.

... For very sharp landscapes, a moderately wide prime (with much better IQ than both these zooms) and a moderate tele prime (with much better IQ than both these zooms) to compliment the 24-240 ...

True; but for general/ non pro use of images the 24-240mm does quite good.  Not everyone needs tack sharp pro quality images.

How many of Ansel Adams prints are at the sharpness you're speaking of?
