What is the added risk? Your camera updates from the one and same file on the memory card.

Also, is it really faster? Canon's file transfer system implementation is not as good as I would expect. All the transfer protocols seem woefully slow, the only exception is the downsized image file transfers to the phone from the camera. Those seem reasonably quick, even if compressed and downsized.

It downloads pretty quick.i don't have to hunt for the right file. I get told about the update. I don't need a laptop/pc with me or booted up.

Peace of mind, I get asked of I want a newer version and if I decide yes then it does it for me.

It doesn't speed up how long it takes the camera to actually update of course.

If folk don't wish to use it then great. We use a lot of WiFi image transfers so getting asked is part of the deal.
