Oh boy, this might trigger some Sony fans
A7r IV + 135mm GM produce image quality out of this world, but I shoot motorsport and it's a bit of a sluggish camera for that. I'm also a bit tired of waiting on the buffer to clear.
So I was thinking, H2s + fast CFExpress card with 16-50mm and 55-140mm lenses coupled with 20 fps would probably give a lot more keepers (I do shoot very slow panning, often down to 1/20th).
I always shoot during the day, almost always when it's sunny, worst case scenario cloudy and rain.
The only concern I have is that I do manipulate my photos a lot. Sometimes raise shadows by +100 in Lightroom. A7r IV manages this with almost no image degradation (with some noise cancelation). Not sure about a high end asp-c sensor.
So what do you think? Worth switching?
Since you are currently invested in Sony why not try to get a good used A9II or even an A9?
You will get 20FPS w/no blackout with ES and you don't really have to change your PP regimen. You are familiar with the Sony Ecosystem so the change/transition would be simpler.
However, if the Camera of the Year has you interested, go for it. There are enough threads and posts of the X-H2S, especially with the FW update, you could not go wrong. Only one caveat with both suggestions. You are going from a 60+MP cam to a 24/26MP cam. If you crop a lot, that may be a small issue.
A9 II is about €1000 more used than H2s new. I could get used A9 for the same price of H2s.
When I bought A7r IV I thought that I will do more photography than just motorsport. Turns out I don't do it often enoigh to justify such a high end camera.
I do crop, but not much. Mostly just to compose photos a bit better as that tack sharp panning photo might not have perfect composition.
Sometimes I crop a lot. Not often but in some situations I decide to stand too far away for 135mm reach. That problem would be eliminated with a 55-140mm apsc lens.
Also, my gear was stolen and while the cops found the guy and some gear, I'm not sure that I will be getting all back.
